About us
AVALONE GUESTHOUSE consists of two independent, neightbouring houses.
Both houses offer you 5 luxurious bedrooms all with private bathrooms.
All bedrooms are equipped with air condition, extra long beds, refrigerator, hair dryer, tea- and coffee making facilities and a small electronic safe.
From each room there is direct access to a private terrace in the beautiful tropical garden.
From both gardens there is direct access to the Nature Reserve.
We also have a lovely suite available among other things with two bathrooms. Each house has a swimming pool, a well-assorted bar and TV-lounge with satellite reciever.
We speak English, Afrikaans and German.
Activities
St. Lucia is considered the leading Eco-tourist experience in South Africa and the area offers a wealth of activities.
Therefore we suggest that you spend a minimum of 3-6 days to encounter some of the scenic sites and many activities of the St. Lucia region.
There is many well qualified tour guides available which one can hire for one or more days for a very reasonable price. Game viewing tours for "The Big Five" in the nearby game park is one of the favorites among our guests.
The many possibilities in the St. lucia region makes it possible to put together a tour program that fits individual needs.
Jeff, on the photo on the left has specialized in guiding guest for salt water fly fishing from the coast.
Enjoy a boat cruise on Lake St. Lucia and see hippos, crocodile, fish eagles and much more.
During the cruise you will experience the mangroove forest which is unique for this part of Africa.
The area is renowned for it's abundant birdlife, and home range for more than 300 different species. Often you can see the majestic African Fish Eagle.
The Great St. Lucia Wetland Park is located only a few hundred meters from AVALONE GUESTHOUSE. This park is home to game species like buffalo, elephant, rhino, leopard and many diffrent species of antelopes.
If you wish to visit bigger parks, there is two very abundant parks in the area, just 3/4 of an hours drive from St. Lucia.
Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Park, is home to the "Big Five": buffalo, rhino, elephant, lion and leopard. Furthermore this park has a very great number of the rare Black Rhino. You can also see zebras and many different species of antelopes.
At sea, lakes and rivers, seasonal whale and turtle viewing is possible. We can arrange special boat trips where you get close to these magnificent sea mammals.
Futhermore there is possibillity for activities like kayaking, canoeing and horseback safaris.
The shore, sea and rivers in the St. Lucia area is a paradise for anglers.
Enjoy first class big game fishing for marlin, sailfish and tunar, surfcasting at the shore and flyfishing in the rivers.
If you like watersports, there is great possibillity for snorkelling and diving at Cape Vidal.
The St. Lucia area also offers very fine 9 hole golf courses.
Enjoy the magnificent beaches at the Indian Ocean.
