The "rack rail" or "tandrat" was used to pull the trains up the steep gradient between Waterval Onder and Waterval Boven. The Rack Rail Inn is located in the original hostel of the railway employees in Waterval Boven. The main building was built in 1929 and the wings were added in 1949
