Sugarbush Hill lies on the northern slopes of a peaceful valley in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. We are on the Rustenburg side of the range, about 50 km from Hartebeespoort Dam and 25 km from Rustenburg. It takes just over an hour to get to us from Fourways and an hour and a quarter from the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.
About us All our units are set at the foot of a hill and all have their own braais, carports and deep stoeps with panoramic mountain views. Guests are welcome to explore the 11Ha of indigenous bush.
Sugarbush Hill gets its name from the Common Sugarbush, Protea caffra which can be found in abundance on the hillside just behind the units. All the cottages have been named after indigenous plants found in the Magaliesberg area. Wherever possible, alien species have been done away with or replaced with indigenous plants. As a result, our bird life is prolific and slowly but surely we are creating a natural haven where city folk can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Buffelspoort valley. We have identified and tagged a lot of indigenous trees on our property, so if you would like to brush up on your tree knowledge, bring along a tree book and spend some time looking them up.
We can now proudly say that we are a 3-star establishment, after having been graded by the Tourism Grading Council of S.A. This means that our guests can be assured of certain minimum standards.
Cottages Our cottages are all built of stone found on the property and are all fully equipped for a comfortable self-catering stay. All our units have TV's either gas or electric cooking hobs, microwaves, fridges, toasters, kettles, etc. We provide our guests with linen, bath towels, and a range of hotel ammenities. Although we are a self-catering establishment, we do provide our guests with tea and coffee, sugar, cremora. Anything you forgot, please ask us we are more than willing to help
Wild Fig And Moepel
Wild Fig and Moepel are new additions, both have 2 bedrooms, 1 double bed, 2 single beds. both have 2 double sleepers in lounge which are used as divan's in the day (if need be can accomodate 8 persons. Wild Fig has bath/shower combinations while Moepel has a large shower (3 persons)
Bushwillow
If we had to make one of our units a "honeymoon suite" then this would be it. It is an open-plan design and can accommodate 3 people in one double and one single bed, but is most often used by couples. Bushwillow has a 4-plate gas cooking hob, a microwave oven, fridge freezer and all the utensils & crockery you would need. It also has a fireplace and a T.V. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and a toilet. Bushwillow is perfect for a romantic getaway for a couple, or for a couple with a small(ish) child.
Marula
Marula, our six-sleeper, has two separate bedrooms with a double bed and two single beds, plus two single beds in the open-plan lounge/kitchen area. The single beds double as divans during the day. There is an unusual fireplace, which goes through the wall, so that the bedroom and the lounge area share the fire. The previous owner built bottles into the back wall of the unit. These give an interesting effect when the sun shines on the wall. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and a toilet. Marula is a fairly spacious unit, and is perfect for a family of six.
Aloe & Karee
Aloe & Karee make up a duplex unit, although each cottage is completely self-sufficient. They sleep two people each, in two double beds. Both Aloe and Karee have their own braais. Aloe and Karee are perfect for 2 couples who want to go away together, but who want a bit of privacy too. It is also great for a family of four, where the children are old enough to be in their own unit
