Deep in the Southern Drakensberg, on the slopes of the highest mountain in the Cape, where the purest water springs from the earth, lies a haven from city life.
Accommodation
Tiffindell's 183 guests are accommodated in centrally heated rooms within 100m of the slope and the main lodge. There is a choice of private chalets; en-suite bedrooms, budget accommodation rooms in the lodge with shared ablution facilities, or the option of luxury self-catering accommodation.
Guests may also choose to enjoy the hospitality of off slope accommodation in the beautiful New England and Rhodes farming areas, within 25km of the resort (contact Kath Cells on 045 974 9900 for more info on this option). For the more daring, camping is available.
LEARN TO SKI OR SNOWBOARD.
Tiffindell has skilled ski and snowboard instructors, who will teach you to ski safely, and ensure that by the end of your stay, you will be able to swish down the slopes with control. A beginner ski or snowboard course on a specially prepared flat beginner area about 65m long is compulsory for first timers. After your course (2-6HRS), you should be skiing or snowboarding on your own with control and using the beginner lift for a day or two. As you gain confidence, you will move onto the main slope.

SKIING & SNOWBOARDING
Skiing & snowboarding are adrenaline sports, which never cease to challenge. There is always more to pit your skill and nerve against, especially with the improved equipment available, including carving skis. The main slope is about 1Km long. At times only parts of this are usable, depending on the snowmaking weather and natural snowfalls. It is ideal for practising and improving your abilities in jumping, slalom and quick turns. The slopes cater for about 300 skiers per day and after good snowfalls, guests can also ski off-piste for up to 1.5Km.
SNOWMAKING!
Snow is made at conditions ranging between +6ºC at 10% humidity and 12ºC at 100% humidity and lower.
The resort has the first button lift in Southern Africa, and 2 snow grooming machines service the 1,5 hectare ski area, comprising two adjacent slopes of approximately 500m and 1Km respectively.
Snowmaking guarantees snow for over 100 days. This amount of snow would fall naturally once in 15 years
In ideal conditions the snow guns can blast 60,000 litres of water per hour and cover the entire main slope with 20cm of snow in 24 hours.
At times the daytime temperature may not rise above -6ºC over 3 days.
