Umzimkulu River Lodge offers self catering accommodation at one of the best fly-fishing spots in Southern Africa. Just 2 hours from DBN and 6 hrs from Johannesburg in the foothills of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, lies a wonderful family holiday getaway.

General
FLY FISHERMEN
Fishermen enjoy the unrivalled opportunities to catch rainbow trout along our 2.5km stretch of the Umzimkulu. Should the river conditions be unfavorable, there are several trophy dams nearby open to guests and additional water to hire from the local Club. The rivers are open from 01/09 to 31/05. Dams are however open for year round fishing enjoyment.

CANOEISTS/KAYAKERS
The Lodge is situated at the finish of the Drak Challenge canoe marathon and the start of the Extreme Kayak event.

FAMILY TIME
Families love it for the unhurried old world country atmosphere with days spent picnicking under the huge oaks on the river island, bolder hopping in thrombosis gorge and exploring all this adventure playground has to offer. An animal farm, jungle gym, trampoline keep children enjoying the fresh air and outdoors all day long.

HONEYMOONERS
Honeymooners revel in the privacy of a luxurious suite and private deck overlooking the river. Order a “Starry Eyed Package” complete with champagne on ice, chocolate, bath salts, foam bath, luxury soaps and candles to celebrate the special occasion.
